Causes of Elbow Dislocation Injuries

The elbow dislocation mainly occurs when the elbow's joint surfaces are hyper-extended or forced to separate thus dislocating the elbow from the joint. The most common cause of an elbow dislocation is a trauma or accident. Elbow dislocations often occur when a slip, trip or fall is braced with outstretched hands. Hence elbow injuries are common in contact sports that are prone to falls such as skiing, snowboarding, football and ice skating.
